Our Mission and Values Shape Our Community

The School For Living is dedicated to nurturing resilience in children, parents, and communities. We aim to empower individuals through sports, education, and community initiatives. Our commitment to these values guides everything we do, providing a strong foundation for personal and collective growth.

Building Resilience

We focus on equipping children and families with the skills needed to face life's challenges. Through tailored programs, we instill confidence and foster a supportive community.

Community Engagement

Our community programs encourage involvement, creating a network of support. Together, we work to enhance well-being and strengthen our bonds with one another.

Our Point of Difference

Our program is linked to seminal resilience theory. This means that when you review any academic papers around resilience, you will see a very close alignment to what the experts (researchers have deemed resilience to be) and what we offer. This is very important to ensure you truly do offer the benefits of resilience training to your students.

Our programs are independently evaluated. This means we have subjected our program to an unknown independent evaluator who is an expert in education and psychology. Our program received a high commendation.

We specialise in the Kindergarten to Year 2 cohort, and the pedagogy (design of our program) targets this area specifically with high levels of engagement and education. This age group is highly influential and considered the best age group to target for early intervention and prevention.

Our CEO has spent 20 years in the Health and Education system at the University. We keep a very close eye on the research (that includes the Do’s and Don’ts of resilience training) because, in short, you can get this very wrong when NOT done properly.

We get results – We can honestly show how our program will change the way young people behave for the better.

We are versatile – Our models use education and sports to develop resilience in children.

Our models are sustainable- Our motto is to EMPOWER- in short, we will train you to be the experts for your clients. This is the best way to achieve sustainable behaviour change across large organisations.

Building Thriving Communities for Healthy Kids

Children’s wellbeing should be a priority for community organisations because it directly impacts the future health, happiness, and success of individuals and society as a whole. Community organisations, such as sports clubs, schools, and local groups, play a crucial role in shaping children’s physical, emotional, and social development. By prioritising wellbeing, these organisations create supportive environments where children can thrive, build resilience, and develop essential life skills.

When children’s wellbeing is supported, they are better equipped to navigate challenges, form positive relationships, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. In turn, this strengthens the fabric of the community itself, fostering a sense of belonging, unity, and collective responsibility.

Ensuring children’s wellbeing also reduces the risk of mental health issues, substance abuse, and social disengagement, all of which can strain community resources in the long term. By investing in children’s wellbeing today, community organisations lay the foundation for a healthier, more resilient society tomorrow.

Children spend a significant amount of their time in the care of community groups. From sports teams to youth programs, these environments play a key role in shaping their wellbeing.

Fostering Confidence and Adaptability

How to incorporate resilience-building into your programs:

Fostering a growth mindset in children helps them embrace challenges and view failures as learning opportunities. Instead of focusing on the fear of making mistakes, encourage them by using positive phrases like,

It’s essential to create a culture where challenges and setbacks are not feared but seen as opportunities for growth. By normalising difficulties, children learn that obstacles are a natural part of life.

Mentorship plays a crucial role in guiding children through emotional and developmental challenges. By training coaches, volunteers, or community leaders to support children, we ensure they have trusted adults to lean on during difficult times.
